Link Marine Virality

Ontropy has many taglines: “verifiable fairness on blockchain,” “off-chain consensus,” and “user-validated data,” to name a few. Yet, none are as provocative and memorable as “death to oracles.”

It is this phrase and sentiment that attracted the Link Marines, Chainlink’s version of Ontroopers, to our Twitter feed. This post became not only the most popular on Ontropy’s account, but on my personal Twitter as well. The valuable discussions and huge inflow of new community members underscored the value of this rallying cry for decentralization.

Being noticed by such a substantial amount of people signals Ontropy is close to mainstream attention.

This Month’s Research Papers

April’s three articles explored three different directions Ontropy can take.

Low Liquidity Data Problems discussed the MEV and liquidator benefits derived from off-chain consensus. We speculated on how Ontropy could deliver true spot prices, which was a “non-oracle” problem in the infamous Mango Markets exploit.

Ontropy Client: Your Personal Blockchain announced progress on our extension and the immense capabilities of this user-validated rollup in gaming.

Finally, Real World Oracle Use Cases delved into Ontropy’s research on “web2” utility. The original title, “Why Your Mom Will Start Using Crypto” highlights our focus on making real change through off-chain consensus and abstraction.

May and the Future

Fair randomness, price feed oracles, MEV, cross-chain bridging, real world assets, and even gaming—Ontropy can disrupt so many possible fields. As a startup, it is important to begin with just one of these ideas. The goal of the coming weeks and months is to pick which idea is best, and focus on only this direction.
